Shubenacadie Wildlife Park

In 1968, my family visited the Maritimes and I remember visiting the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park. The park is very different now but the wide variety of animals is the same.

Feeding time
There were lots of deer

Ilse feeding a deer. They know when and who is feeding them.
Bev's turn.
Al has two handfuls of food.

A herd of deer moving across their large territory

The male watching over the herd

"Ok, I see you. We're moving on."
Birds of a Feather

Canada Goose and a duck

Black Swan

Diving for food

Female and male Peafowl

Showing my good side
White Swans

An emu

Other birds

Mammals
A mother Moose and two babies

A grey wolf

A Bobcat
Ponies meandering through their field
A Reindeer
An Arctic Wolf

A Raccoon
A skunk sleeping. Both the raccoon and skunk can be a pest in any neighbourhood.
Guess what this animal is? A flat broad tail and sharp teeth, good even to chew through tree trunks.
It is the Canadian national animal. Yes, it is a beaver.

An Otter playing in his own pool.

Two American Bald Eagles

A Barn Owl
A Black bear
This is a great wildlife park for the whole family to see some of the animals of Canada up close. You could spend many days at the park just watching the animals.
