Please blow into this, sir!

Driving through the Town of  Donnybrook, we were stopped by the police doing a random spot check. In Australia, they are called RBT (random breath testing). Unlike in Ontario, Canada, they do not have reasonable suspicion that the driver has been drinking to demand a breath sample. Since Al was driving, he complied willingly to take the test. After years and years of Al administering the same test to Toronto drivers, he was now on the receiving end. He passed, no problem..."Thank you, sir, have a nice day!"

By the way, renting a vehicle to travel the country is a great way to explore. We explored places, whenever we wanted, that we would not been able to go if on a bus tour. Remember that in Australia they drive on the "wrong" (I mean the left) side of the road and the driver is on the right side of the car. You don't have to worry about the snow or moose on the road here... only kangaroos.

  1. I remember seeing my first kangaroo roadkill on the highway from Sydney to Brisbane. Yikes!
