The Joy of Learning

I took another water colour art class with Sandi. This time I was the only student. This class focused on painting a white cat on white paper. I had new techniques to master not only with painting what appears to be a white cat but also the techniques for painting things that look like wood, the eyes, the background and the mixing of colours. Here are the stages of my painting.
The cat is painted first by painting areas that are shaded to make the shape.
Adding the wood fence and post helps to define the cat more.
And finally the background is added which outlines the white cat and voila: a finished painting.
A friend bought me a shirt very similar to this painted card.
On my own, I painted her a "thank you" card using the shirt as inspiration.

My fitness trainer is always showing me photos and talking about her dog, Etta. As a thank you for her work with me and to help me practise some techniques and colour mixing, I painted her a picture of her dog. Here it is:
Here is the photo I used as a model.
Notice the harness and leash are gone
and a fourth leg needed to be drawn in.
Finished painting. My trainer enjoyed receiving it very much.

I am having fun with this new skill so what will be next? Another class, hopefully. More painting, definitely when time permits. I still have sewing and other things to add into my day too. What have you been learning lately? Let me know.
