Here is Stanley, Thor and Millie in the back. They are so cute! |
They remind me of the Mother Goose nursery rhyme:
Three Little Kittens
The three little kittens, they lost their mittens,
And they began to cry,
"Oh, mother dear, we sadly fear,
That we have lost our mittens."
"What! Lost your mittens, you naughty kittens!
Then you shall have no pie."
"Meow, meow, meow."
"Then you shall have no pie."
The three little kittens, they found their mittens,
And they began to cry,
"Oh, mother dear, see here, see here,
For we have found our mittens."
"Put on your mittens, you silly kittens,
And you shall have some pie."
"Purr, purr, purr,
Oh, let us have some pie."
The three little kittens put on their mittens,
And soon ate up the pie,
"Oh, mother dear, we greatly fear,
That we have soiled our mittens."
"What, soiled your mittens, you naughty kittens!"
Then they began to sigh,
"Meow, meow, meow,"
Then they began to sigh.
The three little kittens, they washed their mittens,
And hung them out to dry,
"Oh, mother dear, do you not hear,
That we have washed our mittens?"
"What, washed your mittens, then you're good kittens,
But I smell a rat close by."
"Meow, meow, meow,
We smell a rat close by."
Day we got him and the day he left -- Thor
Day we got him and the day he left -- Stanley
Day we got her and the day she left -- Millie
Like most cats, they spent most of their time with us either playing or napping.
Ouch! Playing with whatever is available even if it is a leg. Mom is not even supervising her children. |
Mom getting a scratch on the back. |
Mom and kittens on the comfy bed. |
The stairs were a favourite place to nap. |
"What are you looking at?" |
They will play with anything. Just like a child with a box, a food container will do. |
Big curious eyes |
Napping on the stairs again. |
"Hello" |
Mom napping on a lap |
Four cats together |
"Which book should I read next?" |
Mother and child |
Nap time in the sun. |
"Getting a little crowded here." |
"Who needs a pillow!" |
"Yum!! Let's see what's for lunch?" |
"Finally, I can balance. No problem. I just might have a nap here." |
Bev holding the three little kittens on the day we took them back to the SPCA for neutering and adoption. |
So this Mom and her kittens were the last set of cats that we will have here in Nova Scotia. We will be moving to New Brunswick in June and unfortunately, we will not be able to foster cats there due to the no pets policy in our lease. We have thoroughly enjoyed the experience with all of the cats we had the privilege to foster. There are so many cats that need a quiet place to heal or socialize or just grow and fostering is the ideal way to help animals do just that. It is always nice to have a cat in our home.
As two wise men said:
- “Time spent with cats is never wasted.” – Sigmund Freud
- “Cats rule the world.” – Jim Davis
We still have our cat, Gimli, in Ontario. Anne, our daughter is looking after him. When we visit, he still remembers our special whistle. Yes, I guess you could say we are cat people
Perfect timing: Gregg took this photo of Gimli while sitting on the top step in front of the hall mirror. |
Again, perfect timing. Anne took this photo of Gimli in the middle of a yawn |
