Exploring Guelph Part 9

1. Tour one of the many local breweries and learn how your favourite drink is made (#2 from the Guelph Tour Guide 2017)
2. Visit Canada's oldest independently owned microbrewery, Wellington Brewery (#34 from the Guelph Tour Guide 2017)

One afternoon, we went with Anne and Gregg to the Wellington Brewery in Guelph for a sample of their beers as well as a tour of the brewery. Wellington Brewery was established in 1985 and was one of the first North American breweries to revive the ancient technique of brewing cask-conditioned cask ale. Click here to learn more about the brewery and how it has grown. There are a number of micro-breweries in the Guelph area.

"Try on a Wellie"
I love this slogan!

The Wellington boot tap handles. Cute!

I liked the pale ale better than the dark.

Cheers!

We had a tour of the brewery. It was so nice, clean and shiny! They were not in production on the day we toured but we saw everything and how they improved the bottling and packaging of the product.

3. Cheer on the Guelph Storm, our local OHL (Ontario Hockey League) team at the Sleeman Centre (#80 from the Guelph Tour Guide 2017).

4. High five Stormy and Spyke at a Guelph Storm Game (#139 from the Guelph Tour Guide 2017)

Doing this list of activities in Guelph has taken us to activities that we would not normally do such as take in a hockey game. It has been decades since we have attended one and, boy, is it ever different. Not necessarily the game of hockey but the entertainment surrounding it. The music, the games, and free give-aways and the electronics. The Storm won the game and it was a good one. The fans were in fine form cheering on their favourite team. Yelling instructions from the top stands to the players was so funny. Our daughter, during the hockey season, works at the Sleeman Centre as a bartender. It is always busy.

The play is on.

We enjoyed the action

Although, we did not "high five" the mascots Stormy and Spyke, we saw them during one of the periods participating in a small game with kids.

Spyke -- Number two mascot

5. Watch the turkey dance when you get 3 strikes at Woodlawn Bowl (#125 from the Guelph Tour Guide 2017).

Although we did not see the turkey dance being performed we had the whole family at Woodlawn Bowl for an afternoon of bowling. Apparently it is the only bowling alley in Guelph and therefore very busy. The staff are overworked and I found that they were pleasant and helpful.

We had a great time. Notice the great form we all had. Champions we are not!
