Birds Of A Feather Flock Together

While with Al's uncle Tjeerd, we had the privilege of visiting his neighbour who does bronze statues of birds. They are amazing! Over the past couple of years, this neighbour has been working on different styles and materials in making the birds. He makes a mold ensuring that all the feathers look real and that the legs look the way they should when standing or in flight. He includes every detail.

Using molds that he has created, he pours in various materials to make various parts of the bird ensure that the part is life-like. It may take many tries to get it just right. He must be very patient doing this because after all this work, a piece may break and he has to start all over again or a piece does not look right, such as a leg being too short.

Once the bird is put together, it is bronzed and posed on a tree or stump. This neighbour has entered several of his pieces in competitions and done very well.
There are many pieces of eagles in different positions -- in flight, on a nest, etc.
placed throughout their garden

This piece is called The Wedding

Display of items that are not just right. Note there are several dogs.
Apparently they were the attempts to recreate his son's dog. After several tries he did get it right.

Moving to other models -- humans

It was so nice to get a personal tour of this workshop and outdoor gallery.
